I’ve stumbled upon many eyelash companies before on social media sites such as Instagram, Twitter and Facebook before (IE: MINXlash.com, VelourLashes.com, HouseOfLashes.com, etc…) and I’ve always had the best experiance with the company and the products they sell. They always have me coming back for more!
Well a few weeks ago I came across a company called True Or False Lashes on Instagram (@TRUEORFALSELASHES), and I know you’re not supposed to do this, but I immediately fell in love with the packaging of the lashes. What made me fall even more in love with them were the prices that they were being sold for.
Before I decided to purchase anything I was curious as to what others have said about them. I was not able to successfully Google search any reviews about their products, nor does their website have a “reviews” area. So I continued to browse around Instagram and the hashtag #trueorfalselashes and found that many girls have had communication issues, shipping issues or flat out never recieved their items.
Most people wouldn’t want to order from this company from so many complaints (there were MANY more complaints but it does seem as if they delete them… which is reasonable) but I wasn’t able to find them all. I though, decided that I would chance it and order from the webite.
The lashes are $1.50 each and they had a pretty cool promo at the time where if I re-posted an image of the “Marilyn” lashes and tagged them, I would get 4 of the “Marilyn” lashes for free. So that’s actually what made me decide, “why not?”
I ordered the 4 free “Marilyn” lashes and a pair called “Homewrecker.” They also have lashes that are called “Femme Fatale,” “Medusa,” and “Cat Eyes.”
The only items I paid for was the $5 shipping and the $1.50 for the “Homewrecker” lashes. I got an order confirmation email from a MIKEFUNDS1@yahoo.com, and another email 4 days later with a shipping confirmation. I guess I lucked out and wasn’t one of the girls that apparently never got their items!
The packaging is okay. I originally imagined that the box would be thicker and the plastic window would be a tad sturdier (I guess i expected it to be similar to the Eyelure packaging) but it was a bit flimsy. I did LOVE the fact that all the art on the boxes were Pop Art/ Comic Book like.
I will say though, they feel very cheap. I mean, can’t really complain since they’re only $1.50 right? Wrong. I feel that I have purchased lashes before that were between $1-2 (specifically EverLash, Red Cherry, Miss Adoro) and were of much higher quality.
Another Instagram-er had asked if these lashes were human or synthetic hair, and True Or False replied that they were human hair. I honestly feel that it either may be all synthetic, or a mixture of synthetic and human hair, but it is not 100% human hair. The lashes are not very soft, and the “Homewrecker” lashes are NOT as they are pictured and advertised on the site.
How horrible is that!?
So needless to say, I wouldn’t order from them again.
I hope the best for the company as it does seem they’re fairly new, but they do have a lot of kinks to get through before they become very successful. Hopefully they get better quality lashes in the future and I can try them out again!
